The Hunsley Beacon Beagles were formed in 1960 by Mr Patrick Till. The pack hunts the country in Holderness, formerly hunted by the Burton Constable Beagles between the two world wars and country north of Scarborough formerly hunted by the Derwent Valley Beagles; this combined area is now one of the largest beagle hunt countries in England.
The hounds were originally kept at Londesborough Hall near Market Weighton but more recently they have been kennelled with the Holderness foxhounds near Beverley.
The Beagles meet twice a week on Saturdays and Wednesdays from October to March. Traditionally they would have hunted hares but now they work within the provision of the 2004 Hunting with Dogs Act, by permission and with the support of the local farmers and landowners.
Beaglers follow the hounds on foot so all that is needed is a pair of stout boots and some waterproof clothing. Sometimes refreshments are served at the Meet, and there is often a good tea afterwards.
If you are interested in coming out for the day please email firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be sent an invitation to one of our guest meets.
